Witney Angels warmed up for the start of their league season with a convincing win against Oxford University 2nd.

Naomi Godfrey, Rhian Jenkins and Sophie Lee were among the scorers in a 36-0 victory.

It set them up for the beginning of competitive fixtures in the National Challenge Midlands 2 League on November 15.

The upbeat mood in the camp is in contrast to last season, when a lack of players caused them to cancel more games than they played.

The Angels had as few as six players turn up for training sessions, but they have managed to turn it around.

Witney RFC have helped out and three of the senior men – Robbie Mills, head coach, Simon Copperwheat and Ben La Costa – have stepped in to assist the side.

A recruitment drive means they now have a squad of 31 players, but new faces are welcome.

If anyone is interested in joining, call team secretary Laura White on 07713 485065 for more information.
