BANBURY stay top of Midlands 2 West (South) with a 27-0 bonus point home win over Nuneaton Old Edwardians.

Choosing to play with a strong wind, Banbury took the lead with a try from flanker Sean Bannister, after good work by man-of-the-match James Heywood and Sam Stoop.

Skipper Ed Phillips landed the conversion and added a penalty.

Heywood was also instrumental in Banbury’s other first-half tries, scored by winger Adam Walsh and fullback Joe Mills as they built up a 20-0 lead.

After turning around to face the wind, Banbury looked to the effective boot of Stoop to keep Old Eds pinned in their half.

The hosts added one more try.

Lock forward Matt Brock stole a line-out which led to Heywood scoring himself, for Phillips to convert.

They will look for an eighth straight win in all competitions on Saturday, with a trip to Pinley.
