WITNEY outclassed local rivals Grove to leave south Oxfordshire with a 39-5 victory and a four-try bonus point on Saturday, writes JACK JOHNSON.
The victory lifted Tug Wilson’s men up to third in South West 1 East, condemning Craig Burrows’ team to a third-straight defeat.
A Henry Lamb penalty put Witney ahead on five minutes and he doubled the score after Grove had Rory Gratwohl sinbinned.
Moments later, Witney centre Matt Clarke raced through to dot down. Fly half Lamb added the extras.
Witney’s dominance continued, with George Lewis crossing.
And on the stroke of halftime it was 25-0 after Clarke went over for his second try, Lamb converting.
After the break, Dave Hyde scored the bonus-point try and Lamb converted.
With Witney’s Callum Godfrey in the bin, Joe Chilvers dived over for Grove’s try.
But Witney had the last say when George Lane crossed, Lamb converting.
