GEORGE Lewis scored 13 points as Witney signed off for the festive period with a 28-22 comeback victory over league leaders Salisbury at Hailey Road on Saturday.
The west Oxfordshire side remain third in South West 1 East, nine points off new leaders Towcestrians, after winning all three of their matches this month.
Referee Nicola Reynolds got into the Christmas spirit as she officiated in a Santa Claus outfit.
It was the visitors who made the better start, and a Thomas Pottage penalty and Oliver Bowden try made it 8-0 after four minutes.
But Witney responded through tries from Gareth Campbell and Morgan.
Salisbury hit back, James King going over and Pottage converting.
It was 22-10 at half-time when Thomas Ranoboro was driven over. Pottage added the extras.
With the wind in their favour, Witney roared back.
Lewis kicked a penalty and they were only two points behind when he converted his own try on 57 minutes.
The hosts were dominant and with some of Salisbury’s front row forced off, leading to unopposed scrums, Witney clinched victory.
Morgan went over for his second and Lewis slotted a penalty to wrap up the win.
