WITNEY earned the bragging rights with a dominant 42-10 victory over local rivals Grove at Hailey Road.

The west Oxfordshire side’s six-match winning run leaves them fourth in South West 1 East, with two games remaining.

David Hyde stretched over to give Witney a 5-0 lead with the first of his two tries

It was soon 12-0 when Charlie Bennett touched down and George Lewis converted.

Grove responded with Graham Crapper going over and Mike Martin adding the extras.

Lewis and Martin exchanged penalties as Witney led 15-10 after 32 minutes.

The hosts lost Lewis Collins and Bennett to injury, but it was 20-10 at the break when Charlie Dyde crossed.

Grove lost a man to the sin bin in the second half and Dyde went over again. Lewis converted to make it 27-10.

Witney also went down to 14 men, but Lewis’s drop goal extended their lead and on 75 minutes it was 37-10 when Arron Lambourne crossed.

Lewis added the extras.

Hyde went over late on to complete the scoring.

In the BB&O Premier, mid-table Chipping Norton lost 24-12 at home to Slough.
