BANBURY recorded a 31-10 victory at home to fellow strugglers Reading in South West 1 East on Saturday.

Despite playing into a stiff breeze, the hosts led 10-5 at half-time thanks to a try from Jacob Mills plus a conversion and a penalty from Ed Phillips.

After the break, they scored tries from prop Cash Chilvers and lock Matt Brock, who powered over on the overlap, Phillips converted both to make it 24-5.

Reading gave themselves hope with a score from a tap penalty.

But Banbury had the final say with their bonus-point fourth try through Josh Deegan.

Philips completed a 100 per cent record from the tee with his fourth conversion as Banbury picked up the inaugural Tim Rogers Cup.
