BICESTER suffered their first defeat of the calendar year and lost top spot in the process as they fell to a 30-14 defeat at Beaconsfield.

Beaconsfield’s Daniel Cady streaked over for the first try of the Southern Counties North match, which was unconverted.

A Ryan Morgan penalty extended their lead, before Idrusu Labri sprinted over in the corner.

Morgan added the extras and slotted another penalty to make it 18-0.

Beaconsfield’s Louis Pow was sinbinned on the stroke of half-time.

Bicester’s Tevita Naleca was also yellow-carded 13 minutes after the break and they were duly punished, as Labri raced across.

The visitors replied, when Tom Miles converted his own try and Tom Horwood also plunged over as Bicester made it 23-14.

But their hopes were dashed when James Finlay dived over for Beaconsfield and Morgan converted.

Gosford All Blacks lost 30-29 at Stow.

A Joe Nott penalty gave the hosts an early lead, but tries from Jack Briggs and Harry Sutton put the visitors 12-3 ahead.

Ben Ullmar replied, but All Blacks hit back through Sutton’s interception try to make it 19-10.

Nott kicked a penalty for Stow, before Gosford took a 24-13 lead into the break, thanks to an Ellis try.

Fly half Nott’s unconverted score reduced the arrears and All Blacks had Joe Ballinger sin-binned.

Ellis’s second try made it 29-18, but the hosts snatched victory, thanks to scores from Craig Chapman and James Holmes.

Gosford’s Ellis and Stow’s Nott both kicked two conversions.

Wallingford lost 30-26 at home to Marlow.
