LITTLEMORE have come a long way in the space of 21 months, but head coach Nick Todd is in no mood to stand still.

Expunged from the BB&O Premier during the 2014/15 season after being unable to fulfil at least three league fixtures, the club made a vocal plea to attract players.

The following campaign, Littlemore went on to finish third in the Championship, attracting more than 50 to training across the year.

And now they sit pretty at the top of the table, having won all 15 of their games so far, 12 of which have been bonus-point victories.

A return to the eighth tier of English rugby looks certain, but, according to Todd, the progression must not stop there.

He said: “To go from no games to playing every game, solidifying a side, finishing third, gave us the indication that it was not impossible to get out the league.

“After a successful start, most of what I’m doing now is based on we’ve done really well to get to this point, but we must develop further.”

Todd added: “There is a lot of travelling involved in the level above.

“Those fixtures are the ones we have struggled to fulfil in the past due to commitments.

“But I’m passing that information on to the players, so they’ve got an understanding of what the consequences of success are.”

The target is to go the entire season with a 100 per cent winning record and Todd is under no illusions how difficult it will be to achieve.

He said: “It’s just belief from the players that they’re capable of achieving more than they have been pushed to achieve in the past.

“We sat down, having had a successful start around Christmas time, and said ‘do we want to win the league or have a remarkable season?’

“We talked about how special that would be, while remaining respectful of the opposition.

“But I don’t want to us to be seen as a team who thinks winning is the one thing that matters, because it’s not.”

Littlemore are also making strides off the pitch, having secured RFU accreditation and elected a new chairman in Marc West, while Chris Heap is working hard behind the scenes to expand the minis and junior section.

Todd said: “We’re a club looking forward and the work being done by Marc and Chris to develop further things within the club is vitally important.”
