RUGBY UNION: Hall is Chippy hat-trick hero

Tom Hall scored a hat-trick of tries as Berks, Bucks & Oxon League Premier Division leaders Chipping Norton defeated Stow-on-the-Wold 23-3 in a dour contest.

He scored twice in the first half as Chippy went in 15-3 up, before wrapping up the scoring with his third try late in the second half.

Craig Korszewski had an early try ruled out for a forward pass and they were also frustrated by Stow's failure to roll away from tackles.

Fly half Adam Smith put the visitors 3-0 up with a penalty before they had a second score disallowed for a forward pass.

Such were Chippy's complaints that the referee gave Stow a penalty and then a further ten metres, allowing the hosts to draw level.

Two well-worked tries, both scored by Hall, plus a Smith conversion gave Chippy the advantage at the turn-around.

Lightning struck a third time when Chippy had another try ruled out for a forward pass.

An injury to Simon Hawken meant they had to finish the game with 14 men.

But Smith slotted another penalty and Hall crossed for his hat-trick to wrap up the scoring.
