RUGBY UNION: Chippy promoted after Royal display
TRY DOUBLE: Barry Nutt
TRY DOUBLE: Barry Nutt

CHIPPING Norton secured promotion to Southern Counties North with five matches to go after winning 41-5 at Farnham Royal.

Two teams go up from the BB&O Premier and now only Bicester can overtake Chippy, who need a maximum of three more wins to take the title.

Chippy director of rugby Andy Dawson said: "The hosts' tactics of punching and stamping were a disgrace.

"To our credit, we tried to play expansive and entertaining rugby throughout, but were stifled by negative play and some weak home refereeing at every turn."

The visitors struggled to find their rhythm in the first half with Barry Nutt's try, converted by Adam Smith, their only score.

Chippy kicked for position well after the break and forced errors in the home defence.

Craig Korszewski (2) and Robbie Naish bagged tries out wide, Smith converting one.

Nutt then added his second after a fine break from Sam Townsend with Smith convert- ing.

A simple pass went astray allowing Farnham's centre a run to the corner, putting the hosts' first points on the board.

But then substitute Tom Hall put the game beyond doubt with a quick brace of tries.
