Bus murder accused to enter plea
A man accused of stabbing a teenage schoolgirl to death on a bus is expected to enter a plea today.
Phillip Simelane will appear before Mrs Justice Thirlwall at Birmingham Crown Court this morning charged with murdering 16-year-old Christina Edkins.
Simelane, from Walsall, was arrested shortly after Christina was stabbed on the upper deck of a bus in Birmingham city centre on March 7.
Christina, a pupil at Leasowes High School in Halesowen, West Midlands, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Previous court hearings have been told that Simelane is undergoing ongoing psychiatric assessment.
