A classic thriller with an ingenious plot, which is packed with intrigue and humour, is the Woodstock Players' choice for their spring production this year.
They have chosen The Final Twist, by Ken Whitener and Alfred Broadly, which they will be staging at the recently completed Marlborough Enterprise Centre, at the Marlborough School, Woodstock, at 7.30pm from Wednesday, April 16, to Saturday, April 19.
Like many plays written by Ken Whitmore, The Final Twist made its debut on radio.
It's the story of a Charlie Nicholson, a talented, but disorganised author with writer's block, who is offered a commission by an arrogant ageing matinee idol, Merlin Foster, that will pay all his debts.
Charlie is asked to write a script outlining the perfect murder of Merlin's wife, the beautiful Eden Dundee. He accepts, of course, and then the plot really gets under way.
The Players are confident that this mystery will keep their audiences guessing and second-guessing throughout the evening, they will certainly be amazed by that final twist at the end, which is totally unexpected.
They will be laughing too, as a great deal of humour has been cleverly woven into this ingenious script. As this is the Players' first production at the Marlborough Enterprise Centre, they are particularly excited, as this multi-functioning hall offers them a professional and very comfortable venue in which stage their play.
Tickets can be purchased from Dulcies Sweet Shop, High Street, Woodstock, or by phoning 01993 811609.
