Local Government Act 1974 Section 30(5) - Report of Local Government Ombudsman

The Local Government Ombudsman has issued a report following her investigation of complaints against Cherwell District Council.

The complaints were about the imposition of excess charges for car parking in respect of certain users of the Council’s car parks in April and May 2011.

The Ombudsman found that there had been maladministration on the part of the Council relating to the period 4 to 13 April 2011, causing injustice to some of the complainants.

Copies of the report will be available for public inspection during normal office hours at Bodicote House, Bodicote, Banbury, Oxon, OX15 4AA, for three weeks starting on 27 February 2012. Anyone is entitled to take copies of the report or extracts from it. Copies will be supplied at a reasonable charge.

Because maladministration was found the Council must now consider the report and tell the Ombudsman within three months (or such longer period as he may agree) the action it has taken or proposes to take on it.
