THE Roaring Twenties are coming back to Charlbury as a theatre is turned into a speakeasy.
But it won’t be selling illegal alcohol and will instead be a venue for live music, comedy and poetry.
The first event is on Friday at The Shed, in Nine Acres Lane, featuring performances by acts including jazz musician Alan Fraser and the Four Wordsmen of the Apostrophe.
The idea is the brainchild of three Charlbury residents who wanted to create a place to relax on a Friday evening.
Simon Fenn, one of the organisers, said: “The plan is to create a series of events every month on a Friday night, which will be informal and relaxed with high-quality performers.”
Doors open at 8pm and entry costs £5. Guests can bring their own drinks, as there is no licensed bar.
