THE man killed in Carterton has been named as Melvin Hillier and he died from a head injury.

Mr Hillier, who was 52, was found dead in a flat off Alvescot Road on Thursday morning.

A 27-year-old woman, 48-year-old man and 59-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody after a Superintendent granted detectives a 12-hour extension to hold them.

Mr Hillier was a jeweller who had owned a pawn shop in London and a market stall selling watches in Witney. He lived in Bourton Close, Witney.

He was brought up in Woodstock and had two brothers and a late twin sister.

A post mortem examination found that Mr Hillier had suffered a head injury and died from a bleed on the brain, police said.

Senior Investigating Officer Det Ch Insp Ian Hunter said:“This is quite a complex investigation and we are continuing to speak with a number of people including those in custody about the circumstances leading up to Mr Hillier’s death. We are keeping an open mind as the investigation progresses.

"Our thoughts are with his family and we have appointed a family liaison officer to support them at this time. We would appeal for anyone with information that may be relevant to our inquiry to contact us.”
