SCORCHING heat has been replaced by heavy rain downpours in Oxfordshire and scuppered weekend plans for many families.
If you have afternoon plans, you'll want to take a look at the forecast first. There's a good deal of wet đ§ď¸ and windy đŹď¸ weather around, though improving from the west later â ď¸ pic.twitter.com/Jocgi3CLD8

All three emergency services were set to stage a joint family fun day in Thame today, but organisers have been forced to cancel due to 'appalling' weather conditions.
Due to the appalling weather conditions and the condition of the Southern Road Recreation Ground in #Thame, we have regretfully had to cancel the emergency services day. This follows consultation with partners and consideration of the risk to the public, accept our apologies.

In a Facebook post announcing the cancellation this morning, Thames Valley Police said the site had become 'unsafe' due to rain.
Eynshamfest at Eynsham Playing Fields has also been cancelled due to weather, according to Oxford music act the Social Jam Band.
What a shame @Eynshamfest had to be cancelled midway through the day , due to rain & wind , all the hard work & efforts of so many to raise much needed funds for worthy causes , must make sure Duncan & the team get even more support for next Yearâs event !

The weather has been welcomed by others in the county, however, after weeks of unrelenting heat saw sweltering temperatures of up to 31 degrees Celsius - which have plummeted today to highs of just 21C.
I am loving this weather after way too many weeks of drought and heat. #rain

What a difference 48hrs make....from blazing heat to pouring rain. Itâs great for the wildlife and ponds at #stansfeldpark but not so good when construction starts again in the morning #muddy #soggy #livecam https://t.co/iEVAoxMI9i

Drivers have been urged to travel carefully in the wet and windy conditions, which are set to stay for most of today, according to the Met Office.
For those wondering (we know it's been a while)...

Rain = 'the condensed moisture of the atmosphere falling visibly in separate drops.' đ
In all seriousness, please take care if you're driving in the #rain đ§ď¸ pic.twitter.com/Iio71driLi
Hazards include fallen trees, such as this one spotted this morning in Ferry Hinksey Road in Oxford, just off Botley Road.
And Lee Bellion sent this picture of a fallen tree blocking the towpath by the side of the Thames to the south of the city centre and just north of Donnington.
Reader Ruth Bowers sent in this picture of a moody sky in Oxford yesterday, looking towards Worcester College.
Today marks day two of the free Riverside Festival in Charlbury, and it looks like visitors are going to need raincoats, umbrellas and wellies.Â
Downpours last night were not enough to put off crowds at the Rusty Bicycle pub's annual summer street party in East Oxford.
A throng of people clutching umbrellas danced late into the night as bands performed live music.Â
