PUPILS from a West Oxfordshire school spent two weeks helping orphaned and vulnerable children in Zambia.

Ten sixth formers from Kingham Hill School, near Chipping Norton, volunteered with the charity Life Support at its Eden Farm village this summer, which provides a safe home environment for up to 250 children.

The group, known as Team Zambia, dedicated the majority of its time to a primary school opened in the village earlier this year.

Kingham pupils painted the largest classroom block and taught children in a number of subjects, including sport and craft lessons.

A sports day run by Team Zambia proved very popular, which the teachers and children enjoyed so much that they asked for another to be run the following week.

The team looked after nearly 100 school children in three classes.

In the run up to their trip, Team Zambia raised £7,500 for Life Support and Eden Farm with several activities, including cake sales, non-uniform day and sponsored triathlons.
