A SPECIAL wreath laying will take place at the Westgate Centre in Oxford to mark the centenary of the First World War Armistice.
Members of the Oxford-Leiden twin city link will gather in Leiden Square, outside the John Lewis store, for the ceremony at 11am on Saturday, in memory of the war dead.
A wreath of flowers will be laid by Lord Mayor Colin Cook, and Alderwoman Yvonne van Delft, representing the Burgomaster of Leiden. A traditional Poppy wreath will also be laid.
The ceremony will take place at the Oxford-Leiden mosaic, unveiled a year ago in Leiden Square as a reminder of Oxford’s oldest twin city link.
