WHEELCHAIR dancers enjoyed significant success at the UK Para Dance National Championship in London.
Members of the West Oxfordshire Wheelchair Dance group won nine medals at last month's event in Harrow, collecting five gold medals, three silvers and one bronze.
Kate Goodwin, 38, from Faringdon defended her women's singles freestyle title, while 26-year-old Alistair Oddy, from Witney, won the men's singles freestyle crown.
Mr Oddy said: “Winning the gold felt really good and I was pleased that my family were there to watch.
"In fact it was a complete surprise for my mother as she did not even know I’d entered this category.”
The group was formed in August 2016 and meets every Wednesday at the Windrush Leisure Centre, Witney.
Founder, Elizabeth-Rae Large, from Milton-under-Wychwood, said: “It was a truly fantastic day and I’m so proud of everyone."
