TERRIFYING political figures replaced dastardly dragons in a village pantomime with a twist.
A cast of 65 people performed a special take on Camelot for the Cassington Christmas pantomime last weekend, featuring knights, unicorns and familiar-looking 'dragons' named Theresa, Boris and Donald.
Between 400 and 500 people watched the production over the course of four shows in the village hall between Friday and Sunday.
It was the village's first pantomime for three years and promised 'a knight to remember', with a record number of residents from Cassington and the surrounding area taking part.
Sarah Airey, who played Queen Guinevere, paid tribute to the festive atmosphere within the cast.
She said: "It's a real community event that really brings the village together.
"Anyone could get involved and it was real good fun for all the family."
The production was written and directed by Cassington resident Mandy Constance and also featured a Camelot Choir.
All proceeds went towards Cancer Research UK, Ronald McDonald House and Crohn’s & Colitis UK, while funds raised from a raffle were also donated to the three organisations.
