THE city council said award-winning toilets had finally been fixed yesterday – the day after it claimed work had been done.

A source said every urinal in men's toilets in Gloucester Green had been taped off on Thursday, and that they were still out of order yesterday, with users diverted to one cubicle.

The city council won a Loo of the Year award last month in the best 'away from home' category.

Yesterday afternoon, city council spokesman Chofamba Sithole said he had visited the toilets and the urinals were available again. A plumber hired to fix a blockage had been stuck on the A34 earlier that morning, he said.
