A 'DANGEROUS' section of pavement in Witney will finally be fixed when Oxfordshire County Council receives a delivery of bollards and railings.

The county council told Witney Town Council's Traffic Advisory Committee on Tuesday that a permanent surface would be laid in Witney Market Square, outside HSBC, once the delivery arrives and that plastic barriers would stay in place until then.

The pavement was due to be fixed in November, which the council previously said would cost around £16,000.

It was created last summer as part of a £70,000 project to move the traffic calming ‘table’ further down the road, but was called a 'ski jump' by residents.

A post on Witney Town Council's website read: "[The bollards and railings] are to protect pedestrians from the drop, and to guide them to a safer place to cross."

The post added: "Hopefully the required equipment will arrive soon and the work will be completed."
