THREE men tried to burgle an empty house before driving away at speed.
At about 6.45pm on Sunday, they smashed a rear window and broke into the property on Corbett Road, Carterton.
The house was waiting to be moved into, so nothing was taken.
The men then ran to a Black Volkswagen Golf parked at the entrance to the Maples, before driving away at speed.

Several witnesses have already spoken to police, who will be carrying out extra patrols in the area.
