A COUPLE who bonded over boats 60 years ago have celebrated their diamond anniversary.
Pat and John Blackford, aged 79 and 82, from Hardwick near Eynsham, were married at St James’ Church in Cowley.
They met when Mrs Blackford followed her husband, who was a rower, to various regattas and other events around the country.

She said: “We went to a regatta on the coach and that was it, we’ve always just got on. The secret is to love and support each other.”
The couple now have three children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mrs Blackford said: “We’ve done everything together and put each other first. We have a lovely family. We’re all close and we get to see them most weekends so we are lucky in that respect.”
