A CANCER survivor is organising a 'wellness' event in Oxfordshire tomorrow for those living with or recovering from cancer.

The special support day will be held in Dorchester-on-Thames near Wallingford and features expert speakers and stalls and exhibits offering information on living with cancer and coping with side-effects of the often gruelling treatment.

Organiser and former journalist Verite Reily Collins, said she decided to arrange the Wellness Day after struggling to find a comprehensive source of support and information herself.

She said:"When I got cancer I realised that treatment is good, but once you come to the end - that's it.

"You feel abandoned.

"Long term side effects of the drugs can give you on-going problems, and NHS staff just don't have time or the personnel to deal with all our problems."

Ms Collins has now gathered experts, charities and companies together for the free event.

There will be skin scare specialists, advice on hair loss, massage therapy and range of other advice and support services.

The Wellness Day will be held tomorrow at Dorchester-on-Thames Village Hall from 11am to 4pm.
