A PRIMARY school's grounds have been 'transformed' after a housebuilder knuckled down in a two-day DIY project.

Staff from David Wilson Homes Mercia spent two days painting, planting and building to overhaul the forest school and outside facilities at Queen Emma's, Witney.

The forest school now has a brand new mud kitchen, a lidded sand pit and picnic benches designed by the housebuilder's customer care team, while outdoor areas have been landscaped and painted.

David Wilson Homes also donated the equipment needed for the transformation, including a new playhouse, stepping stones and toys.

Waste management firm, Reconomy, and signage company Eco Signs also donated skips and signage for the space.

Janey Velasequez, school leader at Queen Emma's, said: “Our children’s learning has been completely transformed and they can’t believe they get to keep it all. They can’t choose their favourite area, but the mud kitchen is very popular.”

Gemma Challender, a parent of a pupil who attends the school, added: “So many are going to benefit from this now and for years to come.”

David Wilson Homes is building the 260-home Kingfisher Meadows development in Witney's Burford Road.

Managing director, Dominic Harman, said: “It is incredibly important to us that, as well as delivering quality new homes to Witney, we are also engaged with the local community surrounding our developments and can make a positive difference in the area."
