MORE THAN £312,000 has been raised in memory of PC Andrew Harper.

The fundraising page has racked up £312,190 in donations for the family of the Thames Valley Police officer who died in the line of duty.

PC Andrew Harper was killed was responding to a reported burglary in a rural area of Berkshire.

The 28-year-old newlywed, who grew up in Wallingford, died after he was allegedly dragged along the road by a vehicle on August 15.

The tragedy happened in the village of Sulhamstead, and police launched a murder investigation.

The crowd-funding page, which has now racked up nearly 14,000 supporters, was set up by Thames Valley Police Federation – who vowed to give all of the proceeds to his family.

In just under two weeks the page has racked up more than £21,290.

The police group said the response has been 'phenomenal' as donations continue to flood in.

In the latest statement on the federation's website, chairman Craig O'Leary thanked an 'outpouring of support' from 'in and out of the police family'.

He said: “It has been a tough time for the friends and colleagues of Andrew Harper, and the whole force.

“This has really hit us all and shocked everyone in the whole service.

“On behalf of all my colleagues in Thames Valley Police, I can’t express enough how grateful we are for the support from not only my colleagues across the whole country but also from members of the public across the world.

“I’ve recently come back into work to find over 50 emails from all across the world with messages of support and condolence for us and the family of Andrew. From the bottom of my heart and those of my colleagues, all I can say is, ‘Thank you’.

“It means a lot us and it will obviously mean a lot to Andrew’s family.”

Last week it was announced that the Abingdon-based police officer would be remembered with a special police funeral.

A statement released by Thames Valley Police said: "PC Andrew Harper’s family has confirmed that they wish for a formal police funeral to take place.

"We will continue to work closely with Andrew’s family so that their wishes are front and centre, and ensure that the funeral is a fitting tribute that honours our colleague Andrew’s strength, courage and bravery."

Details of the funeral have not yet been announced.

Friends and family paid emotional tributes to PC Harper following his death, including his wife Lissie, who said her husband was 'the kindest, loveliest, most selfless' man.
