A TEAM of 20 firefighters with breathing equipment tackled a dawn blaze inside a Didcot warehouse.

The fire broke out at around 6.15am on Friday and crews from Didcot and one from Abingdon rushed to the scene.

The caller had dialled the emergency services after spotting flames on the commercial waste bailer inside the large building.

When the crews arrived the bright orange blaze was tearing through the machinery.

At that point, more firefighters were called from Goring and Wallingford to help put out the fire.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service took to Facebook to share images of the damage, explaining it was 'difficult to manage' because of the electrics involved and height of the flames.

Altogether, around 20 firefighters went into the warehouse to help extinguish the flames, using water and foam to wash it out completely.

They were on the scene for more than five hours.

The warehouse was written off for production for the rest of the day, and crews left at around 11.30am.

In the photos trolleys of rubbish and plastic can be seen with thick black smoke creating a fog-like layer.

In the end the machines were the only things damaged although the building itself was severely smoke logged and took hours to clear up.

The team added: "Due to the quick thinking and a prompt call to the emergency services by the site staff, we were able to resolve the incident with minimal damage to the facility or production."
