AN 'AIRBAG dive tower', a 'foam pit battlebeam' and a 'reactive pod' will be among the activities at a £750,000 trampoline park opening next month.

The new soft-play area and trampoline park is set to launch at Carterton Leisure Centre on Friday, December 13.

It follows a massive expansion project by Better, which runs the leisure centre on behalf of West Oxfordshire District Council.

Witney Gazette:

Among the attractions in the 'main jump area' will be an airbag dive tower, which people can leap from onto a soft surface below, a 'foam pit battlebeam' where visitors can have soft fights over a pit of soft foam bricks, and a set of interactive games where challengers have to bash flashing lights, sometimes while bouncing on a trampoline.

There will also be a soft-play area for under-12s that will include a four-lane slide, an 'apple orchard' ball pit, a rope bridge and a 'glow room'.

Witney Gazette:

Besides that will be a dedicated section at the soft play area for babies and toddlers.

The man overseeing the expansion, Paul Shearman, said there would be many opportunities for local residents to test the new facilities before the launch, and people would be able to register their interest on the centre website soon.

He added: “There is nothing like this at the moment in Carterton.

“We’ll be inviting a local disability group to come around, and children from two local schools will be testing the trampoline area."

Mr Shearman also said that the Carterton team would be organising special Christmas event which will include festive activity sessions and holiday-themed drinks and treats.

Carterton Leisure Centre already has a fully-equipped gym, a 25-metre swimming pool, a separate pool for learners and a studio for pilates and yoga.

The soft play and trampoline centre is part of an ongoing £8.4 million redevelopment of the leisure centre.

As part of the ambitious project, the centre already opened its new fitness facilities and changing rooms in October.
