THERE will be daily patrols in Witney town centre following 'multiple reports' concerned about the welfare of people begging.
In a post on Facebook this afternoon, Thames Valley Police advised people not to give spare change to them but to call the force on 101 so they could refer them to 'partner agencies for additional support'.

The post said: "Before handing over any money, please consider whether your spare change will be able to make a real difference."
It added: "We believe that offering shelter, emergency food, clothing and specialist support is a bigger help than giving money to those begging on the street and we work with a number of local organisations and local council to help those in need on our streets.
