OXFORDSHIRE’S men narrowly missed out on promotion at the 2019 Winter County Cup.
They went into the last day of the tournament in Boston, Lincolnshire, having won their first two matches but needing to beat Cambridgeshire to secure top spot.
However, their rivals proved too strong, running out 8-1 victors.
Oxon opened with a 6-3 victory against Devon, before a thrilling success over Channel Islands.
The teams were locked together at 3-3 after the singles, Oxfordshire eventually winning 5-4 after Ben Calnan and Jon Maskens triumphed 6-2 6-2 in the final rubber.
However, only Calnan could pick up victory over Cambridgeshire.
