A MAN is warning others about a scam after he received a suspicious text message from someone claiming to be from a catalogue retailer.
Richard Messer, 46, from Chipping Norton received a text from someone saying his Argos card is out of date and that if he did not renew it, he would be charged.

But he does not own an Argos card and when he called the retailer, he was told the message was fake and to delete it.
He said: "The person from Argos customer services pretty much laughed in my face and told me that it wasn't real and to ignore and delete it. I didn't get any help from them."
Despite there being many ways in which a scammer can get personal information, Mr Messer believes Argos is responsible for a data breach and says the retailer should address the issue.

He added: "There has been a major security breach and Argos should look into its system. I'm sure other people have had this same message too and I don't want others to get scammed."
