EMPLOYMENT charity Aspire Oxford, which works with the homeless, has received a £212,000 boost from the National Lottery.

The charity supports people facing homelessness and poverty to get a job and secure housing and the latest funding has been provided from the lottery’s community fund.

The grant will support the work of staff at the social enterprise for a further three years.

Aspire Oxford launched its homelessness prevention service in 2018 as part of the countywide Trailblazer pilot project funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, in partnership with a wide range of organisations.

Oxford Mail:

A team of outreach workers provided support to people across the county who were vulnerable to homelessness.

By supporting them with issues around tenancies, debt and benefits and helping them to process Universal Credit claims, the team was able to help people stay in their homes and protect them from becoming homeless. During the pilot, the team worked with more than 400 people.
