BAKERY chain Greggs is now recruiting staff for its new Oxford branch.

The chain has submitted plans to the city council to open a bakery in the former Moss Bros in Cornmarket near Carfax.

The large retail unit has been closed since the men’s fashion chain switched to the Westgate Centre.

Work is now taking place to convert the unit and a staff recruitment day is taking place later this month in Cowley.

A recruitment advert said: “Come along to our recruitment event on Thursday January 16 between 9.30am and 5pm in Greggs, Templars Square Shopping Centre, 121 Pound Way, Cowley, Oxford, to find out more about the role and apply.”

No precise opening date has yet been revealed.

Staff members are set to pocket about £300 each after the firm announced a £7m windfall payment to its employees.
