EDDIE Pepperell missed the cut for the second tournament in succession at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

The Abingdon golfer, playing alongside fellow Englishmen Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood, carded a two-over par 74 in his second round.

It left the Frilford Heath member on three-over for the tournament, well below the cut of one-under.

The 28-year-old started on the 10th and was a model of consistency before reaching the turn.

Pepperell recorded pars at every hole before sinking a birdie at the par-five 18th.

He birdied the second to move to two-under for the day, but a bogey and double bogey at the next two holes proved catastrophic.

Four more pars followed, before a bogey at the ninth.

He also missed the cut at last week’s South African Open, his first event of 2020.

Pepperell, who dropped out of the world’s top 50 at the end of last year, is due to tee off at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic next Thursday.
