PEOPLE in West Oxfordshire have been warned to be on the look out for pickpockets after a pensioner was targeted in Chipping Norton.

A police alert said on Monday a pensioner was approached outside the town hall at around 12.45pm by a woman who asked them to sign a petition and said she needed to see a signature.

When the elderly person produced identification, another woman appeared from nearby and caused a distraction.

It was not until later the victim realised money had been stolen from them.

Police said there had also been cases in Witney and the surrounding areas.
