LOW-LYING parts of Oxford and the surrounding areas were at risk from the flooded Thames back in February, 1974.
A 'red' warning was issued to Oxford City but the rises were nowhere near record levels, with the flow only half that of 1947, when severe floods occurred.
A spokesman for the City Engineer's Department said Port Meadow and other parts of the flood plain were under water, but no buildings were in danger.
