A POLICE officer has been suspended after allegedly lying about the amount of money owed to him from a tuck shop at a police station.

It is also claimed that Inspector Iain Kane made a fake report of robbery to another police force and then tried to claim on his insurance.

He then withdraw his support for the alleged crime.

He is facing the heads of the police at a misconduct hearing in Kidlington this week after the incidents between March 7 and August 6 last year.

The allegations are so serious that if he is found guilty, the Amersham based officer could be dismissed and lose his job.
