HERE at the Oxford Mail, we love a photo that tells a story - and this one is the tale of real Oxfordshire love.

It’s this week’s Camera Club competition theme winner (dance) and shows Brian and Kathy Meads dancing at their 50th wedding anniversary.

What we love most about this photo is the look of pure happiness on Mr Meads’ face.

It was taken by the couple’s daughter, Becca Collacott, who said of the image: “I love this photo because you can see how happy they are still 50 years on. And that smile on my dad’s face - I just love it. “

Mr Meads was born raised in Abingdon and Mrs Meads was raised in Didcot, before moving to South Moreton at 16.

The couple met at British Leyland where they both worked.

After they were married, they settled in Abingdon.

Along came their son, Darren and then Becca.

Mr Meads continued working at British Leyland until he retired aged 65.

Today, the couple have six grandchildren and are still happily married – 53 years after tying the knot.

This week we were inundated with amazing photos of dance from around the world which show that despite language barriers and cultural differences, everyone understands and can communicate through dance.

But with the news this week dominated with fears over an impending pandemic, this snap brought some joy to the newsroom.

No matter what happens, let’s keep on dancing.

Next week’s Camera Club competition theme is ‘sport’.

You can join the Oxford Mail Camera Club by searching on Facebook.

From today we will also be showcasing the best photos of the week taken by members which don’t necessarily fit the competition theme.
