EERIE notes written on the wall by an illiterate murderer moments after he stabbed his on-off girlfriend to death were read out at their inquests.

The notes which said ‘I did tis’ and ‘Suc I did tis hospital kic panish’ could have been Rashid Hussain admitting that he killed Emily Goodman in the bedroom, police said at the hearing yesterday.

Ms Goodman, of Bonar Road, was found dead with a kitchen knife in her neck on the fourth floor flat of Foresters Tower in Wood Farm on September 24 – three hours after Mr Hussain jumped off the 14th floor.

Oxford Coroner's Court heard today how the 37-year-old ‘dived’ off the top floor after smashing a window with a weights bar and stripping down out of his boxers and dressing gown.

He could not be saved, despite residents and police officers attempting CPR, and was pronounced dead shortly before 10pm.

At half-past midnight police found 42-year-old Ms Goodman in his flat after trying every to open every door with his key.

That night police launched a murder investigation.

The investigating officer DC Arran Cliff gave evidence in person today.

He told the court how there had been three hypothesis at first.

The first was that Mr Hussain, who is also known by 27 other names, murdered Ms Goodman and then committed suicide.

Police think this could have been fuelled by a money, drugs, a mental health episode or general coercive behaviour.

The other theories were that Ms Goodman, who has seven children in care, had killed herself and then Mr Hussain had committed suicide 'in grief' or that Ms Goodman had taken him to the 14th floor, pushed him off the edge and then killed herself.

The latter theories were dismissed by police when residents said he was alone when they saw him, and that there was a previous history of domestic abuse.

The court heard how Hussain had been charged with common assault after punching Ms Goodman three times when she ran away from his flat and took safety in a Tesco delivery van on June 6. He was sentenced to a community order at Oxford Magistrates' Court and police said there was a 'medium risk'.

A statement from Ms Goodman from the time of the assault was also read to court. It said that he had hurt and threatened to kill her before, explaining: “I have been on the floor and he kicked me in the head numerous times. This is the first time I have called the police.”

Her daughter Yasminah also said it had been a 'volatile' relationship and that her mum hadn't told the hospital when he hurt her.

Hussain had 11 other convictions for drink-driving, theft, immigration offences and possession of cocaine.

Ms Goodman had a previous history of cocaine use and on the night other death had some in her system.

Police said the motivation for why he killed her wasn't clear but added that he could have taken his own life in 'shame and guilt'.

DC Cliff also said that the notes were not written in another language and instead could have been 'ambiguious admissions of guilt'.

Coroner Darren Salter gave a conclusion of 'unlawful killing' for Ms Goodman, and of suicide for Hussain.
