A PAIR of care homes in West Oxfordshire that have restricted visits are turning to technology to help avoid social isolation for their vulnerable residents amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Staff at Rosebank in Bampton and Churchfields Care Home in Cassington are keeping spirits high by bringing the outside world in to the homes by continuing their weekly keep fit sessions through Facetime and supporting relatives and residents to use Skype calls.
In order to combat social isolation both homes have increased their activity schedules and residents have been creating memory books, participating in sunflower competitions, and even raising fluffy yellow ducklings.

Jane Roberts, owner of the two care homes, said: “We strive to provide a secure, safe and loving environment for our residents, and while this pandemic will be distressing to both families and residents, we will do our upmost to ensure the mental wellbeing of all is maintained.
“In our homes we are already making social distancing changes but introducing new activities and moving to video link instead."
She added: "We will be offering increased FaceTime and Skype links to families as we reduce to essential visits only."
