A DISTRICT councillor is cycling around Witney, selling pin badges in aid of nature conservation charity, RSPB.

The popular pin badges are a sizeable fundraiser for the charity, however most shops and businesses that host the charity boxes are currently closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

West Oxfordshire district councillor Andrew Coles, who has volunteered with the RSPB for 11 years, has now taken the job in hand.

Mr Coles, who was a speaker at last year’s Witney Climate Emergency Public Meeting, asks people to leave the money under a doormat or flower pot and posts the badges through the letterbox.

He said: “I’ve been completely overwhelmed by the level of interest and am really thrilled so many people want to help Britain’s wildlife.

“I’ll keep it going for as long as I can.”

So far he has raised nearly £120.

Anyone interested in getting a pin badge delivered to their home can contact Mr Coles through the Witney RSPB Pin Badges Facebook page.
