A VOLUNTEER organisation is seeking new recruits ahead of Volunteers’ Week, which begins on Monday.

Based in West Oxfordshire, over 200 volunteers at Volunteer Link Up have been helping the community during the coronavirus outbreak, by delivering prescriptions and talking on the phone to isolated people.

Pat Chirgwin, manager at Volunteer Link Up for over 15 years, said: “It’s through these incredible volunteers that we are proud to support over 1,000 people locally.

“Volunteers’ Week provides an opportunity to recognise their achievements and of course say a huge thank you to our selfless volunteers.

“Lockdown is particularly challenging for those who are vulnerable or isolated – we are pleased we’ve found a safe way to provide vital support to people.

“We’d love to be able to help more members of the community, so if you’d like to volunteer or if you need help yourself, please get in touch.”

Volunteers’ Week runs from June 1 to 7.

Volunteer Link Up has provided transport to necessary appointments and helped with practical tasks such as gardening and DIY projects since 1983.
