A POLICE officer was punched in the back of her head and then kicked while on the ground after trying to stop an altercation in Oxford.
A man has been charged with one count of assault by beating of an emergency worker, after the incident on Wednesday.
Shaun Carlisle, 56, of Oxford Road, Cowley, was arrested on the same day and charged yesterday.

The charge is in connection with an incident in Temple Road when a PCSO intervened during an altercation between two men.
She was subsequently punched to the back of her head and then kicked while she was on the ground.
She sustained injuries to her head and back, but did not require hospital treatment.
Carlisle has been remanded in custody to appear before Oxford Magistrates’ Court today.
