A THUG spared jail for beating up his sister and threatening to burn her house down has appeared again at court.

Shawn Trinder, of Dawls Close, Ascott under Wychwood, previously admitted assault by beating, threatening to cause criminal damage and causing criminal damage.

The violence stemmed from a family get together on May 23 2018.

Trinder had asked his brother to use a mobile phone as well as a Playstation and had been refused.

This slight sparked him into a rage and when his sister tried to intervene he launched an attack on her involving repeated punches while she held her arms to her head.

He later threatened he would 'burn her house down' with her and her partner inside before going on to visit her home and throwing bricks at her partner's car, smashing a windscreen.

In a victim personal statement read to the court Trinder's sister said that the defendant had acted 'like a spoilt child' and a 'bully' but added that they had once had a very close relationship.

The 24-year-old was made subject to a community order for those offences.

As part of that order he was told to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work and obey a three-month curfew and was also banned from Witney for six months.

Trinder was back in the dock at Oxford Crown Court yesterday facing an allegation that he breached a court order.

At that hearing the court heard that it had been suggested his community order be revoked altogether and he be re-sentenced for the original offence.

Presiding Judge Maria Lamb said: "That can involve a sentence of immediate custody."

She agreed to delay the case so that Trinder's defence barrister Kellie Enever could speak with her client and for further information regarding the original offence.

The case was adjourned and Trinder will appear again at the same court on June 8.
