POLICE are still hunting for the violent rapist who dragged a woman into a wooded area more than two weeks ago.

The attack happened just off Abingdon Road at 11.50pm on Wednesday, July 15.

She was walking along the main road, just by the Travelodge, when she was approached by the man at the junction of Gordon Woodward Way.

Witney Gazette:

The man, who is described as white, tall, skinny and in his forties, is still at large.

Police have made no arrests.

Last year, this paper revealed that an alarming 70 per cent of crime reported to Thames Valley Police gets closed with 'no further action'.

In Oxford Central, 4,787 crimes were reported to the force in 12 months, yet 3,363 of these were not taken any further.

At the time of the rape the detective inspector James Mather said police were investigating it with the 'utmost priority'.
