AMID the retail doom and gloom, three new commercial properties have been let in an Oxfordshire town.

The three units are all prime town centre locations in Witney as the retail industry gets back on its feet following the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Property consultant Conways Commercial has let the properties to Sherwood Kitchens, furniture store The Cotswold Emporium, and new beauty salon, Glamour & Glow.

Martin Conway, founder of Conways, believes the lets show Witney is showing signs of resilience.

He said: “Whilst there are still challenges for many businesses, we are seeing a fairly good level of demand for smaller commercial properties, particularly retail premises which is encouraging and suggests there is some optimism over the longer term.

“We are also taking on some other interesting properties in the town including a freehold showroom/warehouse unit and a new build restaurant/shop in the High Street which we have just been instructed to market jointly with Parkers Properties.

“Whilst the retail sector has been hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, Witney is showing signs of resilience.”

Oxford Mail:

Sherwood Kitchens has relocated in the town, to new premises at 106a High Street.

Steven Pidsley, from Sherwood, said: “We have ran Sherwood for 20 years in Witney and three years in Kidlington.

“We are already busy but looking forward to a bounce back early next year, hence it was a good time sort out a modern, tidy new showroom in Witney.”

Sherwood specialises in the design and installation of fully-fitted kitchens, while also providing services such as replacement kitchen doors and granite work tops.

It was previously located at 105 High Street.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Emily Clarke opened new beauty salon, Glamour & Glow, in Wesley Walk, on Saturday.

She said: “We’re really lucky with the location and hopefully we’ll get lots of footfall, so it’s a good place to set up shop.

“I think people will want to try a new salon in Witney.”

The Cotswold Emporium has signed a let in Langdale Gate, after previously being based at the Crawley Mill Industrial Estate.

The store sells secondhand furniture, antiques, household items and jewellery, while the move was completed to abide by Government coronavirus guidelines.

Mr Conway has over 30 years experience working as a chartered surveyor in Oxfordshire.

After spending time working in London and Oxford, he formed Conways this year.
