A SIGHTSEER plunged down a slope during a stroll at a national reserve.

The woman sustained 'potentially serious' arm and shoulder injuries when she suddenly fell while walking at Kirtlington Quarry on Sunday just before 1pm.

She landed in a position that was still more than 30 feet above the quarry floor.

Oxford Mail:

Firefighters and paramedics rushed to the beauty spot where another sightseer was already helping the woman from falling down even further.

Once she was given pain relief by paramedics, a specialist rescue team from Kidlington Fire Station used a basket stretcher and rope to transport her down to safety before assisting with carrying her to the waiting ambulance.

The team confirmed that without the help and quick thinking of the other visitor, this incident could have been 'a lot worse'.

In a post on Facebook, Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue Service commented: "This was a complex situation requiring good teamwork with our colleagues from the ambulance service and we are particularly grateful to another quarry visitor who quickly came to the lady’s aid, preventing her from falling further."
