A CYCLIST who died after a crash with a bin lorry was a nurse, it has been revealed.

Samantha-Sue Blackborow, 35, died on the roadside of Horspath Driftway on the morning of November 3.

Emergency services raced to the scene at around 8.50am and closed off the Aldi road to traffic for hours.

At her inquest opening on Wednesday the head coroner for the county, Darren Salter, said that Ms Blackborow, who was born in Cambridge, had been a specialist nurse living at Columbine Gardens, Oxford.

Her death was verified by Dr Kaye and a pathologist said her cause of death was multiple injuries. 

A full inquest has been scheduled for April 21.

An inquest aims to determine who the person was, how, when and where they died.

At the time the investigating officer PC Ian Stevens of the roads policing unit commented: "My thoughts remain with the family of the cyclist following this tragic incident.

"I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed what happened or who saw the cyclist prior to the collision to please come forward.

"Furthermore, I would also urge any motorists who have dash-cams to check any footage in case it has captured something that could assist with our investigation.
