AN OXFORDSHIRE company run by two mums is helping children keep fit during lockdown with free Zoom adventure sessions.

During the first lockdown The Project PT, a social enterprise, put on 64 classes for children aged between two and nine years old, and had more than 100 people from across Europe join in.

Run by couple Ajaye and Alexa Hunn-Phillips, who live just outside Oxford, they have decided to bring the classes back.

The pair, along with their seven-year-old son Zhane, do the weekly classes in which children are encouraged to dress up in themed costumes to match each new adventure.

Ajaye Hunn-Phillips, said: "During the first lockdown we started on Facebook live, Instagram and Youtube but we found we wanted to be more interactive with the children so moved to Zoom."

The 36-year-old added: “We use magical stories to take them on fitness adventures. We start with fun, interactive warm ups learning about our bodies and muscles.

“We then teach the children five different exercises which we will use during the story.

“Help us squat to save golden eggs, kick down doors and fly through the skies of the sahara. We finish each class with a cool down and discussion on something fitness based.

“Classes last 30 minutes and children can be as interactive as they wish.”

She said the couple, who only started their business 20 months ago, had been working with schools before the first lockdown in March but had to adapt their efforts to spread a love of fitness once restrictions came into force.

The personal trainer said: "I think a lot of the time with adults you find people have got into the mindset of thinking of exercise as something they have to do and not that it's fun.

"People often say they don't have time but it's about what you prioritise in you day."

She added: "What we're doing is hopefully helping children learn exercise is fun."

Each story is released via the Project PT facebook page the day before, with children invited to get dressed up for each new adventure, from superheroes to

Although the Wednesday at 4.30pm class is taught on Zoom, those taking part don’t need to have their video on.
